rehearse, respond, rescue

North Vancouver, BC

… the life of a Hero.

Following on from the North Shore Rescue (NSR) Search and Rescue base at Capilano Watershed, Nick Bray Architecture has been engaged for this emergency response training facility in the District of North Vancouver.

With over 5,000 sf, this unique building has a command center overlooking 4 helicopter pads. It also includes an educational facility and ample equipment storage. Spa, gym, and wellness amenities complete with a sauna, steam room and plunge pool, offers volunteer and subject care. It connects the inside with the outside forest offering relaxed and holistic spaces.

The building’s form and organization are reflective of the private, semi-private and public-use requirements. This unique structure contains a helicopter hoistway training facility that would not only assist North Shore Rescue, but also provide training to rescue teams across Canada and potentially internationally.
